Virgin Mobile Middle East is part of the Virgin Group, delivering consumer-focused telecom services across the region. Known for combining technology with simplicity and strong brand recognition, Virgin Mobile continues to introduce products that support modern lifestyles and connected families.
Virgin Mobile was preparing to launch Family Tag, an IoT tracking device with an embedded SIM card designed for families. The product enables real-time GPS tracking, geofencing alerts, emergency calls and two-way voice communication, helping parents stay connected with children and caregivers monitor elderly family members.
The brief was to design packaging that felt instantly trustworthy and premium. The box needed to reference the familiarity of Apple-style product design, clean, minimal and confident, while still feeling unmistakably Virgin. At the same time, the Saudi market required a slightly richer visual language than pure minimalism. The challenge was to balance simplicity with reassurance, and technology with warmth.
We developed a red, minimal box concept that aligned closely with Virgin’s visual language while borrowing cues from iconic consumer tech packaging. The design focuses on clarity and confidence, allowing the product to feel intuitive rather than intimidating.
Key features such as real-time tracking, geofence alerts, emergency calling and voice communication were structured into a clear hierarchy, making the benefits easy to understand at a glance. The layout was refined to feel premium and approachable, avoiding excessive technical complexity while still communicating reliability and safety.
The result is packaging that positions Family Tag as a trusted companion rather than a surveillance device. It feels familiar, modern and reassuring, helping families feel comfortable adopting new technology into everyday life.
